Measures boron levels in serum or plasma to assess nutritional status or exposure.
Why This Biomarker Matters
Boron supports bone health and metabolism. Both deficiency and excessive exposure can impact health, making measurement useful in specific clinical situations.

Overview
Boron is a trace mineral found in food and drinking water that plays a role in bone health, cognitive function, and hormone metabolism. A urine boron test measures excretion levels and can assess nutritional status or exposure to boron. While boron deficiency is rare in developed countries, abnormally high levels may result from industrial exposure or contaminated water. This test is less commonly ordered and is typically used when boron toxicity or deficiency is clinically suspected.
