Lactalbumin alpha Ab.IgE
Detects IgE antibodies specific to alpha-lactalbumin, a milk protein.
Why This Biomarker Matters
Identifies which milk proteins trigger your allergy, helping determine tolerance of different dairy products or processing methods in your dietary management plan.
Overview
This test detects IgE antibodies against alpha-lactalbumin, a major milk protein found in cow and some other mammalian milks. Unlike casein (the other main milk protein), alpha-lactalbumin is heat-sensitive and denatures during pasteurization, though some individuals remain allergic. A positive result indicates IgE-mediated milk allergy with sensitization to this specific protein. This test helps distinguish which milk proteins trigger allergic reactions and guides dairy avoidance and product selection.
