Indications

Cefaclor is indicated in the treatment of the following infections when caused by susceptible strains of the designated microorganisms: Otitis media Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae Streptococcus pyogenes caused by, staphylococci, and Note: Haemophilus influenzae in vitro β-lactamase-negative, ampicillin-resistant (BLNAR) strains ofshould be considered resistant to cefaclor despite apparentsusceptibility of some BLNAR strains. Contraindications

When this intervention should not be used

Cefaclor is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
