Indications

Cycloserine is indicated in the treatmentof active pulmonary and extrapulmonarytuberculosis (including renal disease) whenthe causative organisms are susceptible tothis drug and when treatment with the primarymedications (streptomycin, isoniazid, rifampin,and ethambutol) has proved inadequate. Likeall antituberculosis drugs, cycloserine should beadministered in conjunction with other effectivechemotherapy and not as the sole therapeuticagent. Cycloserine may be effective in the treatment

Contraindications

When this intervention should not be used

Administration is contraindicated in patients withany of the following: • Hypersensitivity to cycloserine• Epilepsy• Depression, severe anxiety, or psychosis• Severe renal insufficiency• Excessive concurrent use of alcoho
