Cyclic citrullinated peptide (anti-CCP) antibodies are proteins your immune system produces against specific components found in inflamed joints. This test detects these antibodies in blood or body fluid. Anti-CCP antibodies are highly specific for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and can be present years before symptoms develop. A positive result suggests an increased risk of developing RA or indicates existing rheumatoid arthritis.
