Indications
Treatment with naltrexone implants should be part of a comprehensive management program that includes psychological and psychosocial support. Naltrexone tablets were initially approved by the FDA in 1985 for the treatment of abuse and addiction of opioids. Naltrexone in oral and extended release injection forms have been approved by the FDA for the treatment and abuse of alcohol. Naltrexone is contraindicated in: PRECAUTIONS Patients receiving opioid analgesics (see). WARNINGS Patients with current physiologic opioid dependence (see).
